Try, Try Again

It's true. It has been a long time since I've posted. I suppose that in the hustle and bustle of life the idea of double posting pictures (on Facebook AND on a blog) was a difficult one to keep up with. I began because it was more continent for a few external parties. But I can't do it... especially when my phone automatically uploads pictures to facebook immediately after taking them. Sorry Blogspot... (and public) it is all about the technology of convenience.

But I would like to transition this blog into a new phase and see if it works. And by "if it works," if it proves to be important enough to keep up with.

Similar to the movie Julie and Julia, I need something to do outside of work and my family... despite the fact that it is very much attached to my work and family. Perhaps I'm starting this blog more for accounatbility than anything else. I don't intent that many people will read this blog.

I want to reActivate my pursuit to try to learn to live sustainably and in a way that is healthy for me, my family, the people around me and the earth.

I'm not saying that I am very good at it... but here goes nothing.

Zak and I view sustainable living as a sanctification process. It does not happen all at once, but is about incorporating one more choose at a time.

Current Sustainable Normal Lifestyle Choices:

Clothe diapering (although I am amazed at the amount of water we consume in washing them, it is better than the PILES of plastics that disposables produce. Although, we do use disposables on Sundays --- I suppose it is the day of rest. Mostly because Zak and I would feel bad about making the nursery people at church deal with that. And we believe they may just choose not to change her in order to not deal with it.)

Homemade Baby Food (except for when we travel, all of Lyra's food is homemade. Most of it is no different from what we eat, only modified)

House is kept at a a toasty 80 degrees in Phoenix... it is May and I am feeling it already.

Newest learned choices:

Made my own yogurt (http://starvingstudentsurvivor.blogspot.com/2010/05/crockpot-yogurt.html)

Join CSA (Love Grows Farmes, Mesa, AZ http://www.lovegrowsfarms.com/Love_Grows_Farms/CSA_Home.html)

Next to conquer:

Figure out sprinkler system in yard. and make a few landscaping decision to conserve water. After all, we are in the desert... should I really be trying to grow grass over the entirety of my yard?

Nana's Thanksgiving Pants

Smile!!! Nana sent us our first Thanksgiving outfit. Zak likes to pair the orange and cream pants with pink and purple flowers... This makes us smile and mommy ask, "WHAT is she wearing?!?!"
